1. Who We Are

Collective Odds is operated by Mitch Meyer ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and retain information when you use Collective Odds, including account registration, social login, group participation, one-time purchases, and paid subscription features.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account Information: email, username, display name, first/last name, password hash, account role, and account status.
  • Social Login Information: OAuth provider identifiers and profile data from Google, Facebook, or Apple that you authorize us to receive.
  • Group and Activity Data: group memberships, group metadata, bets, wagers, points balances, and related timestamps.
  • Technical and Usage Data: IP address, browser/device information, session/authentication metadata, and basic app interaction data.
  • Profile Media: profile image upload metadata and storage keys.
  • Push Notification Data: push subscription endpoint and related cryptographic keys/device metadata when notifications are enabled.
  • Payment and Plan Data: purchase status, subscription status, selected product or plan, associated group identifiers, and verification metadata from Stripe, Apple, or Google. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Collective Odds.
  • Create and manage accounts, groups, one-time group upgrades, and subscriptions.
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts (including fraud/security monitoring).
  • Provide customer support and service communications.
  • Process one-time purchases, subscription purchases, renewals, refunds, and related billing events.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and policies.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service Providers: including infrastructure, storage, authentication, and payment providers (such as Stripe) that process data on our behalf.
  • OAuth Providers: where required to support sign-in with Google, Facebook, or Apple.
  • Legal/Compliance Recipients: where disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, users, and platform security.
  • Business Transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

5. Payments

Web purchases are processed by Stripe. Native digital purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Stripe may collect and process payment information directly under its own privacy policy and terms. We receive limited transaction, product, group, and subscription status data needed to fulfill purchases and manage plans.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, improve reliability, and support core security and functionality.

Optional analytics, native permissions, and content safety

Optional PostHog analytics initialize only after consent in Privacy choices. The current native configuration does not enable analytics or advertising tracking. We do not include native advertising plugins. Notification permission is optional; the operating system's photo picker lets you select an image without uploading the rest of your library. You can withdraw optional choices in the app and device settings.

When you use AI drafting, we send the context you provide to OpenAI to generate bets. We do not send group names, descriptions, comments, or other published text to OpenAI for automatic content checks. APNs and Firebase receive device delivery tokens and generic notification text.

Account deletion revokes access immediately. Cleanup starts after outstanding upload links expire, removes profile assets (including abandoned uploads), clears owned-group photos and personal authored text, transfers eligible groups, removes notification endpoints, and requests deletion of identified analytics data. Past scores and answer choices remain as de-identified game history. Financial records remain where required. Apple and Google subscription billing must be canceled separately in the originating store. A receipt shows processing until required cleanup completes; failures retry.

7. Data Retention

We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal/business obligations.

  • Active account data is retained while your account is active.
  • When you delete your account, we aim to delete or de-identify core account data within 30 days, subject to technical and legal constraints.
  • Backups may retain data for up to 90 days before rotation.
  • Security, abuse-prevention, and operational logs may be retained for up to 12 months.
  • Billing and transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years where required for accounting, tax, or legal purposes.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access/Correction: You may update profile information through your account settings where available.
  • Deletion: You can request account deletion from your profile page or the public Delete my data page.
  • Data Export: You may request a copy of your account data by contacting us. We target a response within 30 days.
  • Marketing/Optional Communications: You can opt out of non-essential communications where provided.

Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

Collective Odds is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Processing

Your information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the service, you acknowledge that data may be transferred to and processed in these locations.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post an updated version with a revised "Last Updated" date.
